US Attacks Somalia after spotting Qaida Agents

After raining bombs on Al Qaida in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US opened a new front in its "war on terror" on Tuesday by blowing up a large number of Islamic extremists in Somalia in two air strikes by its special forces. The attack on the African nation claimed many civilian lives, according to the witness.
"We don't know how many people are killed in the attack but we understand there were a lot of casualties,"govt spokesman Abdirahman Dinari said."Most were Islamic Fighters."Islamic extremists are believed to be sheltering suspects in the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in East Africa, Somali officials said on Tuesday.
It was the first overt military action by the US in Somalia since the 1990's and a botched intervention -known as 'Black Hawk Down' -that left 18 US service men dead. In a further escalation of US involvement, the US military said on Tuesday that the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D Eisenhower had arrived off coast to join three Us warships -two guided-missile cruisers and an amphibious landing ship -conducting anti-terror operations.
Meanwhile Ethiopia's PM said on Tuesday that the suspected terrorists from Canada, UK, Pakistan and elsewhere had been among those taken prisoner or injured in the military operations.
The attack, by a US Special Forces Ac-130 gunship, came after the terror suspects were suspects were spotted hiding on a southern Somalian island, close to the Kenyan borders.
